Wow.
I'll post here the last email I received from Gary dated 1/16/08:

Thank You, Michael,

Gary
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 |
Like my wife, Mary, who died 5/21/2007, I know that God has made Gary well -- never to suffer forevermore. So, while we here shall miss Gary deeply, we can rejoice in the knowing he is made whole on the other shore.
Thanks, Gary, for your correspondence -- especially the encouragement during my wife's cancer fight. I am thankful to have "met" you across the internet.
Happy gaming in the sky,
Michael Gross

Many sympathies. Very sad news indeed. _________________ It is a joyful thing indeed to hold intimate converse with a man after one’s own heart, chatting without reserve about things of interest or the fleeting topics of the world; but such, alas, are few and far between.

I'm very very very sad to read that.
Rpg is my favourite hobby.
The death of his creator is quite a mess in my poor little rpg geek's mind.
Hope he'll be remembered for his great contribution to our favourite hobby.

Wow. I didn’t even know he was ill. All the families of these role players have had awful news of late: Erick Wujick of Amber Diceless, Bob Bledsaw of Judges Guild, and N. Robin Crossby of Harn.
Rest in peace Mr. Gygax, thank you for giving us rpgs, you will be remembered. My thoughts and prays to your family & friends. |

I just heard. This is terrible news. I don't really have the words right now. Rest In Peace good sir. _________________ Acts 9:5-6 - "it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks" |

Like so many others, I'm also speechless. I feel very blessed to have met him for the first time recently at Winter's Dark II. |

What a great loss the industry has suffered...he was one of the best inspirations I ever had.
The KFG had hoped to be able to present him an award at GenCon this year, in honor of all the things he has done to improve both the industry and the individuals of gaming. I hope we can still do so, but in his honor instead.
One more world, one more veil dissolved....
Be well, sir. |

I had the great fortune and honor of meeting Gary at last year's GenCon while working the TLG booth. I was in complete hero worship mode the first time i met him at the booth. We spent the next several days in close proximity, me running the register and him meeting the endless line of fans who had to come to meet their idol.
Thank you Gary, for all that you have done to help enrich my life and the countless lives of others who have enjoyed you creations over the years. You are a legend and an icon and you will truly be missed.
