February 2, 2009; Iridia No. 87; Labyrinth Lord
20 pages; digest format; $0
It's taken a while, but I finally compiled all of the material for the Freecity of Haldane between two covers! Haldane is a city that can be used in your Labyrinth Lord campaign. (Of course, it can also be used for other systems as well.) Haldane is governed by a gold dragon named Aurumvorax. The dragon does his best to keep all of the city's various factions in check, while keeping various threats to the citizens' welfare under control. The issue comes with a map of Haldane, descriptions of the major wards, encounters, NPCs and an overview of the city's politics.

The currency of zines has always been a few bucks tucked into an envelope, a nice letter or a trade. I'd like to keep that tradition alive with Iridia. Send me an to Christian@IridiaZine.net with your mailing address and I'll put you on the list of subscribers. If you like receiving Iridia, perhaps you'll consider a donation. If you can't afford to donate, then send an e-mail or letter now and again to let me know you are receiving the issues. |

It's taken me a couple of weeks, but I've finally printed and read this booklet (Issue 87 - the link is in Christian's signature above). I encourage everyone to have a look. Don't be put off by the fact that it's an issue of his ezine, this is a stand-alone LL supplement.
Christian has crammed a lot into this 20-page booklet - several different city areas, each with a couple of people and places of interest, as well as several day and nighttime encouters. There are 8 "Factions and Societies", as well as a few major NPC's detailed.
This is the sort of product I like, a little about a lot, giving the LL a lot of room to personalise and make his own, but at the same time giving the impression of a richly detailed city. Easy to plug and play into an existing campaign.
Great stuff, thanks Christian.

Wow! Right on, Dave. Thank you so much for the kind words. I think that you really understood where I was coming from with Iridia 87. I wanted to create a city, but I only wanted as much detail as I needed to get started. Through play, more material would develop, but what I offered was sufficient to get going.
I think it's really cool that you printed and bound your own copy. One of the mistakes I made with my former zine, Scrollworks, was not keeping print-ready .pdfs online.
Take care and good gaming,
